If an emergency, how long do you think an ambulance will take?
If someone has a heart attack or a gunshot wound, 5-10 minutes could be too late. This problem will be solved by the ambulance drone.
The ambulance drone is a high-speed device that delivers automated defibrillators (AEDs) for heart attacks. Developed by engineering graduate Alec Momont of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), it can fly at up to 100km/hour (60 mph). Painted yellow and driven by 6 propellers, the drone can carry a 4kg load. The drone tracks emergency mobile calls and uses GPS to navigate to the emergency site. Using a live-stream webcam, the pilot can give instructions on how to use the AED and give emergency aid.
In the future, most ambulances will be quadcopters to speed up response times by avoiding traffic and reaching more remote destinations. This technology will help more victims survive emergencies.
