Is climate a key factor for COVID-19?

Countries with average temperatures of 5-11°C experienced the COVID-19 outbreak around the same time. These areas include South Korea, Japan, China, Iran, northern Italy, Spain, France, and North America.

Places with average temperatures below 5°C, like Russia and Mongolia, experienced a very minor outbreak. Similarly, areas with an average temperature above 11°C, in the southern hemisphere or Southeast Asia, had fewer patients and fatalities than Europe.

Thailand is outside the temperate zone that seems to let the virus flourish. Here the epidemic is growing more slowly than in more northerly countries.
