Family comes first
- 61% of Gen X still have children at home, so family life is very important. When going on holiday, family comes first. Dates must coincide with long school holidays. Activities must suit everyone. They also think about creating a positive experience. 71% of Gen X vacations are family trips. They usually choose a large resort in nature or a cruise ship.
Travel should be relaxing
- Gen X have busy lives, taking care of their families and working full time. Trips must be restful. They travel 26 days a year, often choosing a domestic destination. 43% will use their own car because it’s the most convenient method.
- Services are important. Gen X are looking for relaxation, so want nurseries, transport, and a variety of restaurants in one place. Accommodation must combine many elements in one place.
Special occasions
- Family is still the main factor when Gen X take the time to hang out or celebrate. Their big days or special occasions, whether birthdays, wedding anniversaries, or holidays bring people together and create great memories.
Gen X's trips without family
- Gen X sometimes want to travel solo or duo without kids. They are more likely to opt for outdoor and adventurous activities (78%), exploring new places and cultures (71%), and visiting museums (70%). Metaverse travel will be another stress-free option for new experiences.

- Gen X are social but which places do they choose? The leading factors are recommendations from family or friends (64%), online reviews (26%), and travel website recommendations (15%).
